Study for the CRCT

Being successful on any test requires good instruction, parent support, and a strong student work ethic (Dietel, 2007).

Ways parents can help

  1. Encourage reading in your home.
  2. Communicate with your child’s teacher regularly.
  3. Monitor assignments, homework, and tests to identify strengths and weaknesses.
  4. Schedule a time for homework
  5. Remain Calm

What students can do

  1. Get Organized!  Keep plenty of paper, #2 pencils, folders and binders on hand.  Keep your desk clean and well organized.
  2. Practice, Practice, Practice:  Take advantage of online practice tests, teacher administered practice tests, and the After School Tutoring Program.  If you need help- ask!
  3. Plan Your Work:  Schedule a specific time and place for homework.
  4. Get Plenty of Rest:  Being productive is a result of balancing play, work and rest.
  5. Eat Healthy Foods:  Eating a good breakfast gives you energy and helps to reduce anxiety and shakiness.
  6. Dress for success!  Being as comfortable as possible during a test is important!  Dress in layers.  Wear a light layer next to your skin and a jacket or sweater that you can remove if needed.
