The Wacona counseling program is a part of the total school program. It is child-centered and it is designed to facilitate students’ social, emotional, and personal growth. The counselor works with students, parents, and teachers to help students maximize their potential.
Students may participate in classroom lessons,
individual counseling and group counseling.
Counseling is short-term, voluntary, and confidential. Parental
permission is obtained prior to extended individual or group counseling.
Guidance Topics explored in the classroom include, but are
not limited to:
Communication Skills
Motivation
Test Taking Tips
Decision Making
Responsible Behavior
Hygiene
Students are seen by the counselor
when:
Parents request that the counselor meet with their child
Students request counseling
Administrators,
teachers, or other school staff refer the student
