Chess Club

November 12, 2003

Dear Teachers and Chess Club Members,

Remember, we will not meet again until Wednesday, December 3.   At that time, we will begin tournaments.

Only the students listed on the schedule for that day will go to the library.  Any other students will be sent back to their classrooms until it is their time to play.   If you did not sign up for a tournament, you will not be able to sign up now.  The schedule is set.    If a player is absent, he/she will not be able to play until the end of the tournament.  If a player arrives late, he/she may not play who he/she was scheduled to play.   Each week will be a different type of game in the tournament:  beginner level, medium level, or advanced level.  Winners each week will be given a certificate and will advance to the next game in their level.  Overall winners will be given a certificate at Honor’s Day and a pizza from Papa John’s to share with a friend.  Overall winners will not be announced until the entire tournament is complete, either March 11, 2004, or March 18, 2004, based on whether there are any ties.  Good luck to all players!
