Tonality |
| Tonality is the quality of notes sung. To have a good tone, you must breathe from your diaphragm and not just from your chest. When you breathe from your diaphragm, your shoulders shouldn't move, and your stomach should expand. Your stomach muscles will be sore when you breathe from your diaphragm, but you will be able to hold your breath longer.
You can hear an example of a soprano voice (and an alto
voice) on this page. The higher voice is the soprano. These are two of our
members, Heather and Caitlin. Heather is singing soprano and Caitlin is singing
alto. To learn more about tonality, visit this site: http://www.tonalcentre.org/ |
