Wacona Elementary School is fortunate to have a lot of different clubs.
Each club has a different focus and goal.

Academic Quiz Bowl:  See Mrs. Spearman if you're interested.
Georgia Quiz Bowl: See Mrs. Minchew if you're interested.
SWAT Team: The SWAT (Students Working to Advance Technology) Team has a different focus every year. The SWAT team has up to 60 members. SWAT team membership is open to any student in grades 3-5. Talk to Mrs. Miller if you're interested.
PROMOTE Team:  The PROMOTE teams are groups of students who are working as a part of Georgia's PROMOTE project. They are working on Web sites, but in a little different way. They are divided into groups that have chosen specialized curriculum areas. They are researching their topics and will create education web sites based on Georgia curriculum standards. For more information visit http://www.promotega.org and see some past projects that have been done. Talk to Mrs. Miller if you're interested.
GenYes:  The GenYes team is a group of 30 students who have been teamed with teachers in Wacona Elementary. The teachers have chosen particular curriculum standards that they want to design lessons for incorporating technology. The teachers and students then work together to design a lesson that will be taught by the teachers, by the students, or by both. This is a way for students to learn more about planning lessons and infusing technology, and to assist the teachers without placing more of a workload on them. It is a wonderful cooperative project. Visit http://www.genyes.org for more information. GenYes membership is open to any student in grades 3-5. Talk to Mrs. Miller if you're interested.
News Show:  The New Show is written, directed, performed, and produced by students. Students must audition and/or interview to have a chance at being chosen for the news show. This club is open to any student in grades 4-5. Talk to Mrs. Fields if you're interested.
