Dear Parents, Welcome to Wacona Elementary School and room 305. I am excited about teaching your child this year. I love teaching and hope that I can make a postive impact on your child's future and education. I know this will be an exciting year full of many accomplishments. My co-teacher is Mrs. Johnson. She and I have worked together for 1 year. I can be reached at during if you ever have any concerns or questions at 287-2362. The following is important information you will need to know about Wacona and our classroom. Your child can eat breakfast during the time of 7:15-7:35 a.m. No child will be permitted to enter the cafeteria after 7:35 a.m. As we all know, breakfast is the most important meal of the day and plays a large part in the success of your child at school. Please be sure your child eats at home, if you can not be at school by this time. School starts at 7:45 a.m. If your child arrives after 7:50 a.m., he/she will need to go by the office to obtain a tardy slip before being admitted into the classroom. It is very important that your child be punctual. If he/she is tardy, they are missing valuable instruction time. We will eat lunch around 11:00 a.m. We welcome you to eat lunch with your child. You will need to go by the office to secure a visitors pass. You can wait on us at the office. No one is allowed on the campus without a visitors pass. In kindergarten the bus and car riders are released at 2:28 p.m. If you pick up your child, please pull around the front circle and wait in line or park and walk to the building to get your child. Please do not attempt to get your child before pulling between the yellow signs or blowing the horn for your child to cross the parking lot. They will not be allowed to do either. This is for the safety of your child. Thank you for your cooperation. If your child's transportation changes, I will need to send a note or call the school with the information. We will not send your child home a different way without a note. Please label all coats, sweaters, caps, backpacks, and lunchboxes with your child's name. Your child will have a folder from the beginning of school. This folder will be our communication with each other. In the folder you will find a daily behavior note. Initial it each day. If your child has all green lights and you have initialed each day, he/she will receive a treat on Friday. Also you will find daily work and homework. If you send notes to school or money, put these in the folder. We do not check backpacks. Money sent to school should be placed in an envelope with what is it for written on the outside. Ice cream money does not have to be in an envelope. Ice cream is sold daily for .50. About once a month, you will be asked to send snacks. The snacks can be fruit, chips, cookies, cupcakes, ice cream, popsicles, drinks, etc. Some parents send drinks. If you send a large bottle, please send small cups for the students. We welcome you to volunteer either with your time or supplies. Throughout the year we will do fun activities that I might need you to send items for these projects or you can help run papers or read AR books. Let me know it you want to help. I am looking forward to working with you and your child to have a wonderful year in kindergarten. Mrs. Guess
