
We will be studying Native Americans in Georgia during the second nine weeks. The tribes we will be studying will be the Creek and Cherokee Indians. There are many famous Native Americans to be studied. These are your goals:

Task 2: You will complete a graphic organizer of each tribe.
Task 3: You will write a paragraph that compares the life of Native American children with the lives of children today. You will tell which lifestyle you prefer.
Task 4: You will develop a detailed report on your selected tribe.
Task 5: You will design and create a project based on your research that presents information about the lifestyle of your selected tribe. (ex: project board, example of housing, food, clothing, transportation, tools, Power Point, or a skit where you will act out a scene from the selected tribe)
You will use reference materials in Media Center, library books and the internet to research information on your selected tribes.

You will view the video "People
of the Forest" on United Streaming to gain information about the lifestyle
of woodland Indian tribes such as the Cherokee and Creek and use the information
to compare the life of the Native American children with the life of children
today.
Differentiated Assessment(s):
1. Identify more specific details about the Cherokee and Creek Indian cultures.
2. Write a supportive paragraph defending their position on their choice of lifestyles. (today's or yesterday's)
3. Create a detailed report on a selected tribe. (Cherokee or Creek)
4. Design and create a product based on their research that communicates information about their selected tribe. (Write a story about a day in the life of a Creek or Cherokee Indian, act out a skit from a day of a Creek or Cherokee Indian, project board, example of food, clothing, shelter, etc.)
5. Use the GCIS Junior to find characteristics of the Creek or Cherokee Indians (honesty, dependability, liberty, trustworthiness, honor, civility, patience, and compassion) that would be appropriate for your job selection.
