The Enormous Turnip

We read a folktale called The Enormous Turnip.  It was about an old man who planted a turnip.  The turnip grew enormous.  One day he wanted to pull up the turnip but it was too strong.  He called the old woman to help him.  They tried and tried but they could not pull it up.  The old woman called the granddaughter to help.  They tried and tried but they could not pull up the turnip.  The granddaughter called the black dog.  They tried and tried, but they could not pull up the turnip.  The black dog called the cat.  Once again, they tried but they could not pull up the turnip.  The cat called the mouse.  All of the characters tried and the turnip finally came out of the ground.  The moral of the story is that if you work together, you can do anything.
