Wedge

A wedge is a simple machine that splits things apart. A wedge is shaped like and inclined plane. An easy way to see how a wedge works is to think of it as an inclined plane on it's narrow end. The main difference between an inclined plane and a wedge is how they are used. A good example of a wedge is a sharp edge of a cooking knife.
