A dietary disorder is a disturbance of the regular or normal function of the food in a body that is eaten.

Our bodies require many different foods for growth and energy. The carbohydrates, fat, and protein found in food are very important to our bodies. They go through chemical changes and during this process are broken down into a form that our bodies can absorb and benefit from. This is called metabolism.

There are many different inherited diseases or conditions that can cause dietary disorders. Many things could possibly happen to cause this. Some people have conditions that hinder or prevent the nutrients they put into their body from being absorbed. This is called malnutrition. Some people simply have bad eating habits for long periods of time and this affects their overall health.
