Habitats |
|
The earth has a lot of habitats in it. All of the plants, animals, and humans on the earth live in some type of habitat. Pollution changes habitats and makes life different for the beings that live in those habitats. Sometimes it even kills the life there. If we throw an empty bottle into a field, it may cut the cows or other animals that live in that field. If we let our dirty water flow into rivers, then the fish that live in those rivers die. Whenever trees are cut down, whole societies of bugs and animals will die, because they don’t have their habitat to live in anymore. Gas from the earth stays right around the earth. This is called the atmosphere. Pollution can change the type of gas that is in the atmosphere. This affects how warm the earth is. If the earth gets too warm, then animals like polar bears could die. If the earth gets too cold, then animals like parrots could die. These animals depend on the temperature of their habitats. If their habitats change, then they won’t have food to eat, water to drink, or shelter to live in. The change in the Earth’s atmosphere and climate is called the greenhouse effect. These changes even affect the weather, and that affects the way plants grow. Other planets in our solar system don’t have the same greenhouse gases. Venus has too many of these gases. Nothing can grow there. Neptune doesn’t have any of these gases. Nothing can grow there either. Humans have to work hard to help keep the greenhouse effect the same or make it better.
