Tories were American colonist who remained loyal to the King of England. These men included merchants, farmers, and even the son of Benjamin Franklin. They believed that the American colonist should stay loyal to Great Britain and try to settle their differences peacefully. Many Tories would fight on the side of Britain because they believed the patriots were the traitors to the Crown. Others would fight with the British for the money they could get. One man would even sell out the cause he had fought so hard for.
