Groups of Cells

Graphic by Blake and Elycia

One cell is similar to a balloon. Cells usually work together, though. A group of cells is similar to a whole bunch of balloons because they stay together yet they can each move.

When cells live and work together, this is called a tissue. Tissues make up our hearts, our muscles, our lungs, and every other part of our bodies.

Think:  Have you ever played tug of war? What would happen if you worked alone to try to win? Is it necessary to have other team members? How is this like groups of cells working together?
