On December 18,1865 the thirteenth amendment to the Constitution was ratified.  The thirteenth amendment ended slavery in the United States and its territories. This made many southerners angry. Then there was the fourteenth amendment. The fourteenth amendment was ratified in 1868.It states that all persons born in the united states except native Americans and those who later become citizens are citizens of the united states and of which the country where they live. Finally there is the fifteenth amendment to the constitution. The fifteenth amendment was ratified 1870. It states that no person shall be denied the right to vote because of race, color, or previous condition of servitude
