Public Services

Who are public service workers?

Firefighters, Police Officers,

Forestry Workers, Rangers

Firefighters help put out fires.  They drive big fire trucks.  Police officers keep us save.  They investigate crimes and arrest people who break the law.

Think about it:  If you saw your friend take candy at a store and put it in his pocket, what would you do? What would happen to you if YOU were caught stealing?

Think about it:  If you were in your bedroom at night and you smelled smoke, what would you do? Does your family have a fire safety plan? Ask mom or dad about it, and if you don't have one, help them make one! Check the batteries in your smoke detector to be sure they're new and that your smoke detector works.

Mail Carriers and Workers

They bring our mail to us and take our mail to the post office to be delivered.  They work for the Post Office.

Think about it:  If you write a letter to the President of the United States, how do you get it to him? See if you can follow all the steps your letter will take, starting with you putting it in the envelope and putting a stamp on it. Draw a map of where your letter might travel to get to the White House.
