In 1924 Joseph Stalin took control as a dictator. The Soviet Union had formed after the Russian Revolution in 1917. Stalin didn’t believe in fascism, but he did believe in communism. Communism is a political and economic system in which the government owns all industries, land, and businesses and in which people have few freedoms. In 1939, Stalin sighed a no aggression pact with Adolph Hitler, he was the leader of Nazi: Germany which gave Hitler a free hand to invade: Poland, setting off World War 2. In June 1941, in spite of the pact, Germany invaded Russia.

            Beginning in the 1920’s an Austrian born man who had fought in World War 1 started making angry speeches. His name was Adolph Hitler. He said that Germany hadn’t been treated fairly after the war. He also said Germans were better than all of the others.

            Franklin D. Roosevelt was the thirty-second president, He served during 1933-

1945. President Roosevelt was born on January 30, 1882 in Hyde Park, New York. He was married to Anna Eleanor Roosevelt on St. Patrick’s Day in 1905. Assuming the presidency at the depth of the Great Depression, Franklin D. Roosevelt helped the American people regain faith in themselves.
