Tallulah Falls

Tallulah Falls is located north Georgia between Habersham and Rabun counties. It is called north Georgia's first tourist attraction. It also was once home to a town that had 17 hotels.

 Appalachian Mountains

These mountains are in northern Georgia. The soil there is not good for farming. Crops and cattle are raised in the valleys. Some of the animals that you find in the mountains are bears, foxes, deer, and raccoons. It is cooler in the Appalachians than in the rest of the state.

These mountains are part of the oldest mountain chain in North America. The Appalachians go all the way into Canada.

Pine Mountain 

Pine Mountain is at the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains.  It is home to Callaway Gardens.  It has a population of about 1000. It is a major tourist attraction in the state of Georgia.

Stone Mountain

Stone Mountain is a little bit east of Atlanta, Georgia. It is a huge mountain made out of granite. It is the largest stone mountain in North America. It is two miles long and one mile wide. In 1923, a sculpture was started on the face of Stone Mountain. It has the outlines of Civil War soldiers, and is a tribute to them.

Amicalola Falls

Amicalola Falls is the highest waterfall in Georgia. It is in the mountains in north Georgia. The word “Amicalola” is a Cherokee word that means “tumbling water”. These waterfalls are 729 feet high.

Brasstown Bald

This mountain is the tallest one in Georgia. It is 4,784 feet above sea level. It is in the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Appalachian Mountain chain. There is a bare spot of rock on the top of the mountain, and that's why it's called Brasstown Bald. Brasstown Bald is the only place in Georgia that has a cloud forest. This is a kind of rain forest. Lots of special animals and plants live in this cloud forest.

Lookout Mountain  

Lookout Mountain is located in Georgia and has several natural attractions.  From the top of this mountain you can see seven states.

Blue Ridge Mountains

The Blue Ridge Mountains are in the northeast part of Georgia. They are part of the Appalachian Mountain chain. Brasstown Bald is in the Blue Ridge Mountains. There are a lot of hardwood trees and pine trees in the Blue Ridge Mountains. This is also where the Savannah River begins.

Cumberland Plateau

A plateau is a piece of high, flat land that’s made up of rock.  Cumberland Plateau is in extreme northwest Georgia and extends into Alabama and Tennessee. Sand Mountain and Lookout Mountain are a part of this plateau.
