The executive branch makes sure the laws are carried out and followed
correctly. The head of the United States government’s executive branch
currently is George W. Bush. The vice president is currently Richard Cheney and the first lady is Laura Bush.  The president serves as the commander in chief of the armed forces. He appoints the cabinet and oversees many departments of government. To become a president you must be a natural citizen of the United States, be 35 years of age, and have lived in the United States for fourteen years. The president serves for a four-year time and can only be re-elected once.
