The Rocky Mountains are in the western part of North America. They go from Alaska all the way down to Mexico. The highest part of the Rockies is Mount Elbert. Many famous explorers went to the Rockies. Some of these explorers were Lewis and Clark, Coronado, and Zebulon Pike.

Some of the animals that live in the Rocky Mountains are elk, deer, moose, black bears, bighorn sheep, coyotes, eagles, and hawks. A lot of smaller animals live there, too.
