The Great Smoky Mountains are part of the Appalachian Mountains. They are mostly in North Carolina and Tennessee. They are called Smoky Mountains because they look like they are covered with smoke. These mountains have a lot of different trees and plants. A lot of red spruce trees grow in these mountains. Black bears are the most famous animals that live in the Smokies. Clingman's Dome is the highest peak in the Smokies.
