Facts

Rocks and minerals are very similar. Minerals are objects that are solid, were formed in nature, and have never been alive.

Rocks are made up of minerals but may have changed. Some rocks are made of just one mineral. Other rocks are made of many minerals.

There are three kinds of rocks:  Igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic.

Rocks can change into other types of rocks. When they change, they go through the rock cycle. When rocks are exposed to heat and pressure, they usually change. They can also change because of wind and water. Sometimes they can break apart and form sediments and become new rocks that way.
