Henry Ford and The Model T

By: Blake

The Model T, a car built by Henry Ford, changed America forever. Henry Ford sold his cars for low prices, being they were all alike. The increase in automobiles also helped many Americans.  Workers were needed in factories to build cars.

In the 1920s, the Ford Motor Company continued to grow. In 1925, Henry Ford was making 10,000 cars every 24 hours. This was about 60 % of America's total of cars. However, his decision not to bring out new models allowed other companies to challenge him. Until this time, Henry Ford was major leader in this industry.  By 1927, Ford had sold over 15,000,000 Model T cars. However, sales were falling and the General Motors' Chevrolet was the current best-selling car.

Cars gave America a kind of freedom they never had. The Sunday drive became a weekly custom for many American families.
