frontier--the part of the country at the edge of a sellted area.
The pioneers went into the wild frontier.

nearby—not far away. No one lives nearby us.
3.
orchards—areas of land where fruit trees are grown. The apple orchard
had lots of trees..

survive—stay alive. If we have food, water, and shelter, we will
survive.
5.
tame—to bring under control or make more gentle. Our family tried
to tame the wild squirrel.
6.
wild—in a natural state; not controlled by humans. Most animals live
in the wild.

Vocabulary Words
1.
beautiful—very pretty. Those flowers are very beautiful.
2.
nutrition—food part that is needed for life and growth. If I don't
get the nutrition I need by eating good food, I could get sick.
3.
protects—keeps safe from harm. A policeman protects us from bad people.
4.
ripens—matures and becomes ready to eat. A peach gets softer as it
ripens.
5.
streams—small rivers; brooks. There is a little stream in Brittany's
back yard.
