Rocks are objects that are made of natural materials but are not alive. Rocks can be different colors, shapes, sizes, and hardnesses. A rock is made up of at least one mineral.
There are three types of rocks: igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic. Igneous rocks used to be melted, but they hardened as they cooled off. Sedimentary rocks are made when material settled into layers and squeeze together and harden. Metamorphic rocks can be igneous, sedimentary or any rock that has been changed. Heat and pressure are what change rocks.
