This year in 3rd grade, we are alternating social studies and science. The first part of the nine weeks will be science and the second half will be social studies. This will allow us more time to focus on the  essential skills, which they will be tested on in the Spring. Sometimes it is hard to complete a chapter in one week. This allows us sufficient time to complete our units. Therefore, Science and Social Studies grades on the report card will alternate.

Please monitor your child's homework very closely.  Good character is encouraged in 3rd grade.  Every child must have his/her homework, class work, good behavior, and arrive on time to school in order to participate in rewards. School begins at 7:50 and we begin teaching promptly after the morning announcements.

Thank you parents for helping us to get off to a terrific start.  We are looking forward to working with each of you and your child this year. This is going to be a very challenging year so we will need all your support.  Please be sure that your child is here every day and is on time.  Homework is a reinforcement, therefore we need for you to see that it is returned each day. Discipline and self-control are necessary to complete our daily task, therefore the following  are our classroom rules that should be reinforced each day.

Classroom Rules:

1.  Listen carefully.
2.  Follow directions.
3.  Work quietly.  Do not disturb others who are working.
4.  Respect others.  Be kind with your words and actions.
5.  Respect school and personal property.
6.  Work and play safely.
