Creek and Cherokee:

Both the Creek and the Cherokee Indians had two houses. They lived in one house in the winter, and another house in the summer. The winter house was made so that it would stay warm. It also didn't have windows. This kept the cold air outside and the warm air inside. The summer house sometimes didn't have walls at all. If it did have walls, they were thinner, and they didn't have doors. This let the cooler air come inside.

Creek:

The Creek Indians lived in towns. These towns grew. Once a town had 400 or more people, they would split into separate towns, and some of the Indians would move to start their own town.

The Creek Indians built houses that were huts with thatched roofs. A thatched roof is made out of thick straw. To see a house with a thatch roof, visit this site:   http://www.britannica.com/eb/art-92358/Reconstruction-of-a-Natchez-house-and-granary-at-the-Grand.

The Creek Indians built special buildings used in ceremonies and for meetings. These buildings were at the center of each town.

The Chief of a tribe was called a miko. He was elected by the other Creek Indians in his town.

Cherokee:

Most of the Cherokee Indians lived in villages. Sometimes the villages had large walls around them to keep wile animals out.

They built houses kind of like the ones the white men built. Their houses had thatched roofs on them. A thatched roof is made out of thick straw. Some of them built houses made out of logs. Their houses were warm and kept the rain and bad weather out.

The roof of a Cherokee house usually had a large hole in it so that smoke could escape. Every house had a fireplace right in the middle of the floor.

They also built large buildings for special ceremonies. Sometimes they had big playing fields in their villages. They enjoyed playing and watching sports. A sacred fire was always burning in the council house. Each clan had benches in the council house.
