Animal fossils are the ones that we think of when we think of a fossil.  Most of the fossils in movies and TV are of dinosaurs. Any animal can become a fossil. A shark's tooth is a fossil when you find it on the beach. You can even find shark's teeth in the mountains.

Other types of animal fossils are of bugs that have been trapped in sap.  Fossils of fish are also common and easy to find if you are a fossil hunter. Woolly mammoth fossils are very interesting as well.

Fossils can be made from the remains of bones, teeth, skin, hair, or shells. They can also be from footprints, burrows, or animal waste.
