--red clay - tall green trees - Stone Mountain - rolling hills - big cities--

The mountains are in the north and the swamps are in the south, but the Piedmont is right in the middle of Georgia. More people live in the Piedmont than any other section of Georgia. Why? The capital city of Georgia, Atlanta, is in the Piedmont. The soil is red clay. The trees are big and green. The land is hilly. It is about 1,500 feet above sea level, and it is filled with fun things to see and do, including Stone Mountain.
