Alligators with big teeth—tall Cyprus trees—slimy green water—nice
turtles—sneaky snakes—burning hot—floppy fish—bloodsucking
mosquitoes.
If you like
snaky green and black water, interesting creatures, and hot weather,
the Okefenokee Swamp is right for you!. It is 438,000 acres of
wetland located between Georgia and Florida. The word Okefenokee is
a Native American word that means “trembling earth.” You might
tremble when you see all those alligators staring at you! Both the
St. Mary’s River and the Suwannee River get their start in what is
called one
of the seven wonders of Georgia.
Pogo is Walt Kelly’s comic strip. The characters made their home in
the swamp.
