Frogs are amphibians. Amphibians live part of their lives in water and part on land.

Frogs lay eggs. They lay the eggs in water or wet places. If they lay the eggs in water the eggs float.

The eggs start to grow and each one starts to grow gills and other organs.

After 21 days the eggs start to hatch. They attach to weeds in the water and then grown into tadpoles. Tadpoles are baby frogs. They stay attached and grow a little.

Then they break free and live in the water. They eat small plants called algae. Tadpoles have long tails.

They grow more for about five weeks. Hind legs start to grow. Front legs start to grow. Their tails shrink and get smaller. They start to grow lungs. They start eating bigger food like frog eggs and other tadpoles.

They keep developing and shed their skin and lips. Their mouths get wider. Their tails grow smaller. Their legs grow longer. Their lungs develop so they can breathe air.

It takes eleven weeks for the eggs to grow and change into adult frogs. The grown frogs have lungs, legs, and no tail. They can leave the water and live on land most of the time. They eat insects and worms.
